What the install actually looks like
The floor tells us what it needs before we quote anything.
We would rather spend the morning grinding than come back in a year. We turn up with the grinder and the extraction first, and the first hour is dust and noise rather than anything that looks like progress. Solvent-resistant topcoat that sweeps clean.
Once the slab is open and clean we chase any cracks, fill them, and grind those flat. Then the primer goes down, and from that point the day is a sequence with cure windows in it rather than a job you can rush. Residential floors are usually a one day job start to finish.

What we find under a collision shop epoxy job
Where a floor has been patched repeatedly with different products, each patch behaves differently under a grinder and under resin. Sometimes the right call is removing the patches entirely.
Some floors do not need coating at all. If the slab is sound and the use is light, polishing or sealing the concrete itself is cheaper and lasts longer. We will say so.
The system we specify
The chip blend changes how a floor hides dirt. Multi-tone blends with some dark in them stay looking clean far longer than a single pale colour.
Full flake broadcast means chip thrown to refusal, so the floor is a continuous layer of vinyl rather than a base coat with decoration on it. That is what gives the texture its grip and what stops the colour wearing through.

What a working shop does to a floor
Shop floors fail in specific places for specific reasons. Under the lift posts because the load is concentrated. At the bay entrance because that is where wet tyres and road salt land first. Around the parts washer because solvent sits there. A floor specified as a single uniform build across the whole shop is being optimised for the easiest part of the room.
Hot tyre pickup is the failure people know by name. A tyre that has been on the interstate comes in hot and soft, sits on the coating, and when it cools it grips the finish harder than the finish grips the concrete. Cheap single-coat epoxy lifts in patches shaped like tyres. A flake build with a polyaspartic topcoat does not, because the topcoat is harder than the plasticiser coming out of the rubber.
Single day install is standard here. The waiting afterwards is just cure time.

Living with the floor afterwards
If a crack appears in the slab years later, that is the concrete moving, not the coating failing. It can be chased and repaired without redoing the floor.
Do not use degreasers with high pH on a regular basis. They will dull a clear coat over time. Neutral cleaner and water handles almost everything.

What do you do before any resin goes down?

Does it cope with the loads in here?
Frame racks, welders and constant dust. We specify the build thickness against the actual use, not a standard sheet.
Is my area inside your radius?
Yes. We cover south Mississippi, the coast, coastal Alabama and St. Tammany Parish, roughly a hundred miles out from Laurel.
Who will be in my building?
A family operation out of Laurel, running since 2021.
Can I see the colour before deciding?
Yes. We bring the chip deck out and you pick the blend against your own light and your own walls. Colours read differently under LED, under a skylight and under a garage door that is half open, so choosing off a photograph is how people end up disappointed.
Does a cracked slab rule this out?
Slabs around Laurel and down toward the coast are mostly 1970s to 1990s pours, and they were finished hard. A hard-troweled surface has almost no porosity left, which is why paint peels off it in sheets. Grinding opens that surface back up so resin can key into the concrete instead of sitting on top of it.
How do I stop it wearing?
Furniture and jack stands want pads under them. Point loads with sharp edges are the realistic way a residential floor gets damaged.
Why does the topcoat matter?
Primers, base, broadcast and topcoat are four separate products that have to be compatible. Mixing brands across layers is how delamination happens.
