Picayune floor coatings, done in a day
Close enough to the Louisiana line that we often pair it with a St. Tammany run. Mostly residential garages and workshops. A typical garage is a one day install. You are walking on it that evening.

Floors we coat around Picayune
Close enough to the Louisiana line that we often pair it with a St. Tammany run. Mostly residential garages and workshops.
Control joints and cracks are not the same thing and get treated differently. A control joint is doing a job and needs to stay flexible. A crack is failure and gets chased out, filled with a rigid polyurea and ground flat before anything goes over it.
What a Picayune job usually involves
We see a lot of two-car garages where only half the floor has ever been parked on, and the wear pattern is obvious once the grinder starts. That does not change the spec, but it does explain why one side looks worse.
Most houses are done inside a day, then 12 hours to foot traffic.
Detached shops and workshops are common on the bigger lots, and those slabs are a different job. They are often unsealed, frequently damp because there is no vapor barrier underneath, and they have usually had something spilled on them. Moisture testing decides the system.
Most of what we do in a town like this is residential garages, and the pattern repeats: a slab poured with the house, sealed once by a previous owner, and now dusting badly and stained where the car parks. The fix is mechanical. Grind the sealer off, open the concrete, patch what needs patching and build the system back up properly.
The slab decides the spec.
Before we quote anything
A lot of the slabs we open up have been sealed at some point with an acrylic nobody remembers. It reads as clean concrete until the diamonds hit it and the surface loads up. That is a full mechanical removal, not a light scuff, and it changes the day.
Pigments are not all equally stable. Reds and yellows fade fastest under UV, so exterior work uses pigments chosen for it rather than the same colors we would use in a closed garage.
Living with it afterwards
Keep the drains clear in a wet room. Standing water is not a problem for the coating and is a problem for everything else.
If a crack appears in the slab years later, that is the concrete moving, not the coating failing. It can be chased and repaired without redoing the floor.

Commercial work around Picayune
Older neighborhoods mean older slabs, and older slabs mean previous coatings. Finding out what is already on the floor is the first thing we do, because removing an old acrylic changes the length of the job.
Commercial work in a town this size is usually small and specific. One wet room, one kitchen, one shop floor that has to be closed for the shortest possible time. Those jobs get planned around opening hours from the first conversation.
The full roster runs to seventy five different rooms, from garages through to food plants and clean rooms. It is all on the services page.
Why the prep matters more than the color
Garage aprons and interior slabs are usually separate pours at different times, and they move independently. The transition between them gets detailed deliberately so the coating does not split along that line.
Slabs with in-floor heat or embedded conduit change how aggressively we can grind. We locate it first rather than finding it with a diamond.
Polyaspartic topcoats cure faster and hold color better under UV than standard epoxy clears. They also go down in a wider temperature window, which matters when you are working through a Mississippi summer.
Grinding is most of the job.

How the day runs
Concrete varies street to street around here, so we check. We arrive with the grinder and the dust extraction, and the first stretch is noise and containment rather than anything that looks like progress. Getting the slab open and clean is what the rest of the day depends on.
Cracks get chased out and filled, high spots come down, and any old coating comes off rather than getting buried. Then the primer goes on and the day becomes a sequence with cure windows in it. One day, one crew, then cure time does the rest.
We are not a franchise. Kevin, Aaron, Kyler and Averie are the company. Nothing gets lost between the quote and the floor because it is the same people doing both.
Snow and road salt tracked in should be rinsed off rather than left to dry. Salt is more aggressive to the concrete than to the coating. If you want to see blends first, the chip deck comes to you, and there are finished floors on the gallery page.
