A lot of the slabs we open up have been sealed at some point with an acrylic nobody remembers. It reads as clean concrete until the diamonds hit it and the surface loads up. That is a full mechanical removal, not a light scuff, and it changes the day.
What a Latimer job usually involves
We get asked about basements less here than on higher ground, but where there is one it is damp by default, and a coating that works in a garage will not necessarily hold down there.

New construction is the opposite problem. The slab is clean but green, and coating concrete before it has cured traps water under the film. We would rather push the date than come back to blisters.
Pool surrounds are seasonal work here. The concrete gets hot underfoot and slick when wet, and a textured coating with a cooler pigment fixes both.

Before we quote anything
Where a floor has been patched repeatedly with different products, each patch behaves differently under a grinder and under resin. Sometimes the right call is removing the patches entirely.
Everything we install is a system that has been tested as a system. That is the practical value of working to a manufacturer spec instead of improvising.
Living with it afterwards
If a crack appears in the slab years later, that is the concrete moving, not the coating failing. It can be chased and repaired without redoing the floor.
A dust mop twice a week does more for the look of a floor than any product you can buy.

Why the prep matters more than the colour
Moisture, contamination and surface profile are the three things that decide whether a floor lasts. Colour is the easy part and the only part most people ask about.
Commercial slabs that have been in service take oil deep into the pores. Surface degreasing does not reach it, and resin will not bond through it. We grind it out, and where contamination runs deep we prime with something built to tolerate it.
Coving at the wall turns a floor into a sealed basin. In kitchens, kennels and wet rooms that detail is the whole point, because water stops finding the joint between floor and wall.
Grinding is most of the job.

How the day runs
The slab sets the spec, not the brochure. We arrive with the grinder and the dust extraction, and the first stretch is noise and containment rather than anything that looks like progress. Getting the slab open and clean is what the rest of the day depends on.
Cracks get chased out and filled, high spots come down, and any old coating comes off rather than getting buried. Then the primer goes on and the day becomes a sequence with cure windows in it. Single day install is standard here. The waiting afterwards is just cure time.
