A slab poured in sections often has slight height differences at the seams. Those get ground flat rather than coated over, because a coating follows the shape it is laid on.
What a DeLisle job usually involves
We get asked about basements less here than on higher ground, but where there is one it is damp by default, and a coating that works in a garage will not necessarily hold down there.

We see a lot of two-car garages where only half the floor has ever been parked on, and the wear pattern is obvious once the grinder starts. That does not change the spec, but it does explain why one side looks worse.
Detached shops and workshops are common on the bigger lots, and those slabs are a different job. They are often unsealed, frequently damp because there is no vapour barrier underneath, and they have usually had something spilled on them. Moisture testing decides the system.

Before we quote anything
Gulf Coast concrete carries moisture. Slabs poured on sand without a vapour barrier wick water up through the mix continuously, and that vapour pressure is what lifts a coating months after it looked perfect. We test for it before quoting, because the honest answer sometimes is a moisture-tolerant system rather than standard epoxy.
Slip resistance comes from profile, not from an additive stirred in at the end. Where a floor will be wet we build the texture in with graded aggregate and we tell you how it will feel underfoot.
Living with it afterwards
Expect the finish to look the same in five years if it is looked after. That is the point of specifying properly rather than cheaply.
A dust mop twice a week does more for the look of a floor than any product you can buy.

Why the prep matters more than the colour
New pours need to cure before they are coated, and the wait is longer than most people expect. Coating green concrete traps water under the film. We would rather push the date than come back to a blistered floor.
Older residential slabs in Jones County often have a soft top layer from being finished too wet. It looks solid and crumbles under a grinder. If we find that, the fix is grinding past it to sound concrete rather than coating over a layer that is already failing.
Full flake broadcast means chip thrown to refusal, so the floor is a continuous layer of vinyl rather than a base coat with decoration on it. That is what gives the texture its grip and what stops the colour wearing through.

How the day runs
Before anything is mixed we know what the floor is sitting on. We arrive with the grinder and the dust extraction, and the first stretch is noise and containment rather than anything that looks like progress. Getting the slab open and clean is what the rest of the day depends on.
Cracks get chased out and filled, high spots come down, and any old coating comes off rather than getting buried. Then the primer goes on and the day becomes a sequence with cure windows in it. A day on site is the normal answer for a residential floor.
Since 2021 this has been Kevin, Aaron, Kyler and Averie. No subcontractors sent in your place. Nothing gets lost between the quote and the floor because it is the same people doing both.
Maintenance is a dust mop and occasionally a neutral cleaner. No wax, no sealing, no annual reapplication. If someone tells you a coated floor needs yearly maintenance, they are describing their own product failing.
