Cure
Single day install is standard here. The waiting afterwards is just cure time.
What the install actually looks like
The first hour on site is spent on the concrete, not the color.
Good floors are decided during prep, not during the pour. We turn up with the grinder and the extraction first, and the first hour is dust and noise rather than anything that looks like progress. Fast-cure system installed overnight.
Once the slab is open and clean we chase any cracks, fill them, and grind those flat. Then the primer goes down, and from that point the day is a sequence with cure windows in it rather than a job you can rush. You lose the garage for a day, not a week.
Kevin built the company in 2021 around doing the work they promised. The crew has not changed. That matters on a smoke shop epoxy job because the person who decided the spec is the person holding the squeegee, so nothing gets lost between the quote and the floor.
Used a lot of flooring companies over the years on various jobs and lemme tell you you’re in good hands with these guys. From the quote to the finished job they were nothing short of professional.Verified review
Other retail floors we coat
The slab decides the spec.
What we find under a smoke shop epoxy job
A lot of the slabs we open up have been sealed at some point with an acrylic nobody remembers. It reads as clean concrete until the diamonds hit it and the surface loads up. That is a full mechanical removal, not a light scuff, and it changes the day.
Exterior concrete has UV and thermal cycling on top of everything else. Materials that are fine indoors amber and chalk outside, so exterior work gets a UV-stable topcoat as standard.
The system we specify
Full flake broadcast means chip thrown to refusal, so the floor is a continuous layer of vinyl rather than a base coat with decoration on it. That is what gives the texture its grip and what stops the color wearing through.
Coving at the wall turns a floor into a sealed basin. In kitchens, kennels and wet rooms that detail is the whole point, because water stops finding the joint between floor and wall.
Specified from the load, not a brochure.
A retail floor is doing two jobs at once
It has to survive the traffic and it has to look like part of the fit-out. Those pull in opposite directions. The most durable finishes are textured and dark, and the finishes that photograph well are smooth and bright. Where a floor lands between those is a decision worth making deliberately rather than by default.
The practical constraint in retail is almost always time. You cannot close for a week. That means phasing the work, or working nights, or using a fast-cure system that is walkable before you open. All three are possible and they cost differently, so it is worth saying up front which one matters most to you.
A day on site is the normal answer for a residential floor.
What we plan around
Small floor, heavy footfall, tight budget.
What this floor has to put up with
Constant foot traffic in a small area. Fast-cure system installed overnight. That combination is what we specify against, and it is why a smoke shop epoxy job is quoted from the room rather than from a rate card.
Closed one evening, open next morning. We grind, coat and topcoat in one visit on most residential jobs.
Living with the floor afterwards
Do not use degreasers with high pH on a regular basis. They will dull a clear coat over time. Neutral cleaner and water handles almost everything.
If something is spilled that should not be there, wipe it rather than leaving it to sit. Coatings are resistant, not immune, and contact time is what decides whether resistance matters.
The service area runs from Jones County out to the coast and along it. Gulfport, Biloxi, Ocean Springs and Pascagoula in Mississippi, Gulf Shores and Foley in Alabama, Covington and Slidell in Louisiana. See the areas we cover.
Questions we get asked
Is smoke shop epoxy a one day install?
One day on site for most homes. Full cure for vehicles is 48 hours.
How do you prepare the concrete?
Fast-cure system installed overnight. We test the slab before we promise a finish.
Is it tough enough for daily use?
Constant foot traffic in a small area. We specify the build thickness against the actual use, not a standard sheet.
Do you work outside Laurel?
We cover south Mississippi, the coast, coastal Alabama and St. Tammany Parish, roughly a hundred miles out from Laurel.
Who turns up on the day?
Kevin Garner set this up in 2021 for his family to carry on.
Can I see the color before deciding?
Yes. We bring the chip deck out and you pick the blend against your own light and your own walls. Colors read differently under LED, under a skylight and under a garage door that is half open, so choosing off a photograph is how people end up disappointed.
What happens if the slab has problems?
A lot of the slabs we open up have been sealed at some point with an acrylic nobody remembers. It reads as clean concrete until the diamonds hit it and the surface loads up. That is a full mechanical removal, not a light scuff, and it changes the day.
Is it hard to keep looking good?
Keep the drains clear in a wet room. Standing water is not a problem for the coating and is a problem for everything else.
What makes the system last?
Polished concrete uses a densifier that reacts chemically with the slab, hardening it rather than coating it. There is nothing to peel because there is no film.
Give us a call and we will come look at the slab.
