Quartz systems are built in layers, broadcast and troweled rather than rolled. It is slower to install and it is the toughest, grippiest thing we lay.

In a commercial kitchen the cleaning routine is the maintenance plan, and the floor is specified around the chemistry you already use.
Coated floors do not need to be stripped and resealed, which is where the savings against VCT actually come from.

Commercial work around Florence
We get asked about basements less here than on higher ground, but where there is one it is damp by default, and a coating that works in a garage will not necessarily hold down there.
A lot of the calls we take start with somebody having tried a big-box garage floor kit. Those sit on top of sealed concrete and peel, and the removal is more work than the original job would have been.

Why the prep matters more than the colour
Some floors do not need coating at all. If the slab is sound and the use is light, polishing or sealing the concrete itself is cheaper and lasts longer. We will say so.
Where a floor has been patched repeatedly with different products, each patch behaves differently under a grinder and under resin. Sometimes the right call is removing the patches entirely.
Full flake broadcast means chip thrown to refusal, so the floor is a continuous layer of vinyl rather than a base coat with decoration on it. That is what gives the texture its grip and what stops the colour wearing through.
Grinding is most of the job.

How the day runs
The first hour on site is spent on the concrete, not the colour. We arrive with the grinder and the dust extraction, and the first stretch is noise and containment rather than anything that looks like progress. Getting the slab open and clean is what the rest of the day depends on.
Cracks get chased out and filled, high spots come down, and any old coating comes off rather than getting buried. Then the primer goes on and the day becomes a sequence with cure windows in it. Most houses are done inside a day, then 12 hours to foot traffic.
