Gautier floor coatings, done in a day

Floors we coat around Gautier

Low and wet in places along the Pascagoula River, so moisture testing is not optional on slabs near the water.

A slab that has been acid etched instead of ground has an inconsistent profile. Some areas take the coating and some do not, and you cannot tell which until it fails. We grind regardless of what was done before.

Church halls, small offices and community buildings turn up in most towns we work in, and those are almost always scheduled around a calendar rather than around us.

We grind, coat and topcoat in one visit on most residential jobs.

Older neighbourhoods mean older slabs, and older slabs mean previous coatings. Finding out what is already on the floor is the first thing we do, because removing an old acrylic changes the length of the job.

Driveway aprons are worth mentioning because they are a separate pour from the garage slab and they move independently. The transition between them gets detailed deliberately rather than coated straight across.

The slab decides the spec.

Before we quote anything

Where a floor has been patched repeatedly with different products, each patch behaves differently under a grinder and under resin. Sometimes the right call is removing the patches entirely.

Clear topcoats are not all clear. Some amber noticeably within a year indoors under LED light. We use ones that do not.

Living with it afterwards

If a crack appears in the slab years later, that is the concrete moving, not the coating failing. It can be chased and repaired without redoing the floor.

Expect the finish to look the same in five years if it is looked after. That is the point of specifying properly rather than cheaply.

Commercial work around Gautier

Humidity is the constant in this part of the state. It affects cure times, it affects how the resin flows, and in summer it means working earlier in the day rather than pushing through the afternoon.

Most of what we do in a town like this is residential garages, and the pattern repeats: a slab poured with the house, sealed once by a previous owner, and now dusting badly and stained where the car parks. The fix is mechanical. Grind the sealer off, open the concrete, patch what needs patching and build the system back up properly.

The full roster runs to seventy five different rooms, from garages through to food plants and clean rooms. It is all on the services page.

Why the prep matters more than the colour

Basement and below-grade slabs are damp by default. A coating that works in a garage will not necessarily hold down there, so those rooms get a system chosen for moisture rather than for looks.

Commercial slabs that have been in service take oil deep into the pores. Surface degreasing does not reach it, and resin will not bond through it. We grind it out, and where contamination runs deep we prime with something built to tolerate it.

Everything we install is a system that has been tested as a system. That is the practical value of working to a manufacturer spec instead of improvising.

Grinding is most of the job.

How the day runs

Preparation is the part customers never see and always pay for twice if it is skipped. We arrive with the grinder and the dust extraction, and the first stretch is noise and containment rather than anything that looks like progress. Getting the slab open and clean is what the rest of the day depends on.

Cracks get chased out and filled, high spots come down, and any old coating comes off rather than getting buried. Then the primer goes on and the day becomes a sequence with cure windows in it. Most jobs need one day of our time and none of yours.

Four names, one crew. Kevin Garner built the company in 2021 to pass it on. Nothing gets lost between the quote and the floor because it is the same people doing both.

Expect the finish to look the same in five years if it is looked after. That is the point of specifying properly rather than cheaply. If you want to see blends first, the chip deck comes to you, and there are finished floors on the gallery page.
