Gulf Coast concrete carries moisture. Slabs poured on sand without a vapour barrier wick water up through the mix continuously, and that vapour pressure is what lifts a coating months after it looked perfect. We test for it before quoting, because the honest answer sometimes is a moisture-tolerant system rather than standard epoxy.
What a Big Point job usually involves

A slab poured in sections often has slight height differences at the seams. Those get ground flat rather than coated over, because a coating follows the shape it is laid on.
Dark floors show dust and light floors show tyre marks. There is no colour that hides everything, and we would rather say that than sell a finish that disappoints.
Living with it afterwards
Coated floors do not need to be stripped and resealed, which is where the savings against VCT actually come from.

Commercial work around Big Point
Patios and porches are the other half of the residential work in this area. Exterior concrete goes grey, grows algae in the shade and turns slick when it rains, and a UV-stable textured coating solves all three at once.

Why the prep matters more than the colour
New pours need to cure before they are coated, and the wait is longer than most people expect. Coating green concrete traps water under the film. We would rather push the date than come back to a blistered floor.
Slabs around Laurel and down toward the coast are mostly 1970s to 1990s pours, and they were finished hard. A hard-troweled surface has almost no porosity left, which is why paint peels off it in sheets. Grinding opens that surface back up so resin can key into the concrete instead of sitting on top of it.
Full flake broadcast means chip thrown to refusal, so the floor is a continuous layer of vinyl rather than a base coat with decoration on it. That is what gives the texture its grip and what stops the colour wearing through.

How the day runs
Moisture gets tested before resin gets opened. We arrive with the grinder and the dust extraction, and the first stretch is noise and containment rather than anything that looks like progress. Getting the slab open and clean is what the rest of the day depends on.
Cracks get chased out and filled, high spots come down, and any old coating comes off rather than getting buried. Then the primer goes on and the day becomes a sequence with cure windows in it. Single day turnaround on typical residential slabs.
Kevin started it in 2021. Five years on it is still the same four people. Nothing gets lost between the quote and the floor because it is the same people doing both.
