What the install actually looks like
The floor tells us what it needs before we quote anything.
The slab sets the spec, not the brochure. We turn up with the grinder and the extraction first, and the first hour is dust and noise rather than anything that looks like progress. Moisture-tolerant system built for wet trailers.
Once the slab is open and clean we chase any cracks, fill them, and grind those flat. Then the primer goes down, and from that point the day is a sequence with cure windows in it rather than a job you can rush. Most jobs need one day of our time and none of yours.
One crew, four names, and the founder on site. That is the whole company. That matters on a boat repair shop epoxy job because the person who decided the spec is the person holding the squeegee, so nothing gets lost between the quote and the floor.
Choosing somebody to do our Floors was a hard decision but I am so happy we picked ICM coating masters. The results are beautiful and The time and effort put into the work was amazing.Verified review
Other automotive floors we coat
The slab decides the spec.
What we find under a boat repair shop epoxy job
Garage aprons and interior slabs are usually separate pours at different times, and they move independently. The transition between them gets detailed deliberately so the coating does not split along that line.
Concrete that has been under carpet or tile carries adhesive, and old adhesives vary from water soluble to essentially permanent. Identifying which one is on the floor decides whether it is a grinding job or a full removal.
The system we specify
Metallic pigment is moved by hand while the resin is still open, so no two floors are the same. That is the appeal and it also means the installer matters more than the product.
Cementitious urethane costs more than epoxy and outlives it in any wet or thermally cycled room. In a brewery or a food plant it is not an upgrade, it is the correct product.
Specified from the load, not a brochure.
What a working shop does to a floor
Shop floors fail in specific places for specific reasons. Under the lift posts because the load is concentrated. At the bay entrance because that is where wet tires and road salt land first. Around the parts washer because solvent sits there. A floor specified as a single uniform build across the whole shop is being optimised for the easiest part of the room.
Hot tire pickup is the failure people know by name. A tire that has been on the interstate comes in hot and soft, sits on the coating, and when it cools it grips the finish harder than the finish grips the concrete. Cheap single-coat epoxy lifts in patches shaped like tires. A flake build with a polyaspartic topcoat does not, because the topcoat is harder than the plasticiser coming out of the rubber.
Most of our residential installs are complete within a single working day.
How we build for a shop
Salt water, resin and gelcoat dust.
What this floor has to put up with
Trailers, hulls and standing salt water. Moisture-tolerant system built for wet trailers. That combination is what we specify against, and it is why a boat repair shop epoxy job is quoted from the room rather than from a rate card.
Salt stops eating the slab. Single day turnaround on typical residential slabs.
Living with the floor afterwards
Expect the finish to look the same in five years if it is looked after. That is the point of specifying properly rather than cheaply.
In a commercial kitchen the cleaning routine is the maintenance plan, and the floor is specified around the chemistry you already use.
Laurel is home, and from here we reach Hattiesburg, Jackson, the Gulf Coast, coastal Alabama and the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain comfortably. Coast jobs and Baldwin County work are a normal week for us. See the areas we cover.
Questions we get asked
How long does a boat repair shop epoxy job take?
Single day turnaround on typical residential slabs.
What preparation does boat repair shop epoxy need?
Moisture-tolerant system built for wet trailers. Every job starts the same way, with the slab itself.
Can it take the wear this room gets?
Trailers, hulls and standing salt water. We specify the build thickness against the actual use, not a standard sheet.
Which areas do you cover?
We cover south Mississippi, the coast, coastal Alabama and St. Tammany Parish, roughly a hundred miles out from Laurel.
Is it your own crew?
Started 2021, family owned, and the people on your floor are the people who own it.
Can I see the color before deciding?
Yes. We bring the chip deck out and you pick the blend against your own light and your own walls. Colors read differently under LED, under a skylight and under a garage door that is half open, so choosing off a photograph is how people end up disappointed.
What do you find under a floor like this?
Older residential slabs in Jones County often have a soft top layer from being finished too wet. It looks solid and crumbles under a grinder. If we find that, the fix is grinding past it to sound concrete rather than coating over a layer that is already failing.
What maintenance does it need?
Keep the drains clear in a wet room. Standing water is not a problem for the coating and is a problem for everything else.
What am I paying for in the build?
We install Duraflex systems. The certification matters less than what it means in practice, which is that the product data is real, the cure windows are tested, and there is a manufacturer standing behind the spec rather than a generic resin bought on price.
