Preparation is the part customers never see and always pay for twice if it is skipped.
We open up the surface and see what we are actually dealing with. We turn up with the grinder and the extraction first, and the first hour is dust and noise rather than anything that looks like progress. Textured coating with a cooler pigment, chlorine tolerant and detailed to the coping.
Once the slab is open and clean we chase any cracks, fill them, and grind those flat. Then the primer goes down, and from that point the day is a sequence with cure windows in it rather than a job you can rush. One day install, 12 hours to walk, 48 to drive.

What we find under a pool deck coatings job
Slabs around Laurel and down toward the coast are mostly 1970s to 1990s pours, and they were finished hard. A hard-troweled surface has almost no porosity left, which is why paint peels off it in sheets. Grinding opens that surface back up so resin can key into the concrete instead of sitting on top of it.
Concrete keeps moving for years after it is poured, and it moves more near the coast where the ground is wet and sandy. That is why we detail edges and joints rather than laying one continuous rigid sheet and hoping.
The system we specify
We install Duraflex systems. The certification matters less than what it means in practice, which is that the product data is real, the cure windows are tested, and there is a manufacturer standing behind the spec rather than a generic resin bought on price.
Quartz systems are built in layers, broadcast and troweled rather than rolled. It is slower to install and it is the toughest, grippiest thing we lay.

Why the system matters more than the colour
A resin floor is four products stacked in order, and each one has a job. The primer wets into the open concrete and grips. The base coat builds thickness and carries the pigment. The broadcast layer, whether that is vinyl flake or graded quartz, gives the floor its texture and most of its wear resistance. The topcoat takes the abrasion and the UV so the layers underneath never see either.
Skip a layer and the floor still looks right on day one. It fails in month eight, usually along the door line where the sun hits or in the wheel tracks where the load concentrates. That is the difference between a coating and a system, and it is not visible in a photograph.

Living with the floor afterwards
Maintenance is a dust mop and occasionally a neutral cleaner. No wax, no sealing, no annual reapplication. If someone tells you a coated floor needs yearly maintenance, they are describing their own product failing.
Hot tyre pickup is a failure mode of cheap coatings, not of a properly installed flake and polyaspartic build. You can park on it hot without lifting the finish.

Can I see the colour before deciding?
Yes. We bring the chip deck out and you pick the blend against your own light and your own walls. Colours read differently under LED, under a skylight and under a garage door that is half open, so choosing off a photograph is how people end up disappointed.
What if the concrete is in bad shape?
Basement and below-grade slabs are damp by default. A coating that works in a garage will not necessarily hold down there, so those rooms get a system chosen for moisture rather than for looks.
How do I clean it?
Pressure washing exterior coated concrete is fine at sensible pressure. Holding a turbo nozzle in one place is not.
Why does this outlast a cheap coating?
Slip resistance comes from profile, not from an additive stirred in at the end. Where a floor will be wet we build the texture in with graded aggregate and we tell you how it will feel underfoot.
